Microsoft Releasing Rise of Nations: Extended Edition on Steam

By   /   May 30, 2014

Microsoft Game Studios just purchased the Rise of Nations IP and is bringing another classic title to join Age of Empire HD and Age of Mythology Extended Edition on the PC.

Releasing through Steam, Rise of Nations: Extended Edition will include the base game and its expansion pack: Thrones and Patriots, just like the other Classic RTS Titles and priced accordingly.

Featuring improved visual effects, lighting and HD textures, the game will also be compatible with Steam Workshop, Steam Achievements, Steam Trading Cards, Twitch integration, Cloud Saves and Online Multiplayer.

Microsoft acquired the Rise of Nations Franchise, Rise of Legends included, last December from the now-defunct 38 Studios, who are known for Kingdoms of Amalur. Before declaring Bankruptcy, the team at 38 Studios was working on a secret project titled Project Copernicus, which turned out to be a Rise of Nations title for the iOS by the name of Rise of Nations: Tactics.

The news makes one hope that Microsoft will release HD remakes of more of their beloved franchises, keeping my fingers crossed for a Pandora’s Box HD Remake or a Sequel.

Available for pre-order on Steam, Rise of Nations: Extended Edition will be available for Windows 7 and 8.1 in June for $19.99, fans can pre-order the game to receive a 20% discount.
