CryEngine Now Available as a Service On Steam

Crytek, the developer behind popular franchises like Ryse: Son of Rome and Crysis has officially released its flagship’ CryEngine for game-development as a service on Steam.

There is no question about the power of the CryEngine and it will be a great asset for the indie developers who can’t afford to license the other rather expensive engines.

The developers will be able to subscribe to the CryEngine for just $10 a month.

Crytek revealed its plan to allow the use of CryEngine at the Games Developer Conference earlier this year and surely many developers will be extremely glad to finally get a chance to use it for development for cheap.

This is a hell of a thing to undertake. It’s been a dream of our co-founder Cevat Yerli for a long time to enable anybody to create games. It took us longer than anticipated to get it out. Now the time is right.

Indie games always had a special place in the market and only thing they were lacking were the graphics and this new service from Crytek will surely give them a huge boost to match their game’s visuals with top games from big developers.
