Shenmue Trademarked By Sega

Sega has filed a new trademark for Shenmue, just ahead of upcoming event E3.

Now, that could mean a number of things, maybe the company just wanted to keep the name safe or they wanted to develop a new game or an HD remake of the previous title.

Previously, the newly appointed head of Xbox, Phil Spencer said in an interview with Polygon that the company has gathered feedback from the fans and the most requested game is Shenmue III.

On the other hand, the creator of Shenmue Yu Suzuki wants to make another game, but he will do so when he is given the right opportunity.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Suzuki was asked if he will take the route of Kickstarter for his new game, to which he replied “Yes, I am researching it”.

There is no question about the popularity of Shenmue, and we just hope that after the trademark filing, we get to see the game’s announcement at upcoming E3.

In addition to Shenmue, some new trademarks were also filed including Bloodborne and Otoiine from the Sony Japan while Square Enix filed for Run! Yankee-spirit. Bandai Namco files for Xuccess Heaven while Capcom filed for MH4G.

The expectations are high from this year’s E3 and the good news is, it’s just a few weeks away now. Are you looking forward to see Shenmue at E3?
