Crytek to Enter the MOBA Genre With Arena of Fate

Crytek has announced its entry into the MOBA genre with Arena of Fate, the first MOBA from the studio known for making visually stunning games like Crysis and Ryse: Son of Rome.

Crytek has long shown interest in releasing multiplayer titles, with Warface being their contribution to the free-to-play shooters. Arena of Fate is being developed by Crytek Black Sea, previously known as Black Sea Studios who worked on real time strategy titles like Knights of honor and WorldShift.

Crytek Black Sea Managing director and game director Vesselin Handjiev said that the game will feature classic characters taken from fiction as well as history. Characters like Robin Hood, Joan of Arc, Fenrir and others.

He said that the team is working hard at crafting a game that allows greater accessibility and deep action gameplay. Crytek might have a bigger challenge than they expect. With the MOBA genre being dominated by League of Legends and Dota 2, not to forget the upcoming Heroes of the Storm by Blizzard, they will have to come up strong if they want to survive.

Arena of Fate is a MOBA powered by CryEngine and is expected to release on the PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4 this summer. A playable version of the game will be showcased at this year’s E3.
