Transistor PC Errors, Crashes, Black Screen and Resolution Fixes
From the makers of Bastion, comes a sci-fi fiction based RPG “Transistor” that more or less follows the pattern of turn based games. Of course, unlike a typical turn-based experience, Transistor allows you to move in real time dodging your enemy attacks.
Overall, the game has been received well by the critics and fans alike. After all, Transistor is a concept we don’t get to see too often these days. So kudos to Supergiant Games to make this admirable product.
Although the game is good but when we talk about the PC version, there are some distasteful issues that are spoiling the fun for some gamers.
Some of these issues might get fixes soon but what of those that aren’t common and only experienced by you? In that case, we have this troubleshooting guide for you that can help resolve problems like errors, bugs and crashes.
#1 Transistor Cutscene Issue/Black Screen
If you are experiencing black screen on switching areas and cutscenes aren’t playing as they are supposed to be, try running the game in windowed mode.
If you use Alt+Tab to minimize the game and then get back in, it has also fixed the issue for some.
#2 Transistor Crashes with KERNELBASE.dll Error
If you are receiving this error then you need to install the files (vcredist executables and DXSETUP.exe) found in _CommonRedist folder of the game directory.
After the setups are complete, restart your system and you are good to go.
#3 Transistor Game Crashes Just After the Startup Logo
If you are getting this crash and you are using Intel HD GPU, make sure that your drivers are up to date. Needles to say that if you have other GPU on-board (Nvidia/AMD), try running the game using that.
You can also try running the game in Windowed mode.
#4 Transistor Screen Resolution Fix
If running the game in windowed mode doesn’t fix the issue for you, you need to find Transistor “.exe” in the local files.
Right click it and then go to properties. Here, go to compatibility tab and disable display scaling on high DPI settings. Run the game as administrator and the issue should be fixed by now.
#5 Transistor DirectoryNotFoundException Crash Fix
The error is somewhat self-explanatory telling that some files aren’t at the place where they should be. So, in order to fix it, try copying/moving the contents of the “Content” directory inside of the x86 or x64 directory.
#6 Transistor Black Screen Fix
There are a few things you can try to get rid of the startup black screen:
- First, make sure that GPU drivers are up to date.
- Try running the game in windowed mode.
- Try changing the compatibility mode for the game.
- Running the game as admin with one of the above steps can resolve the issue.
- Try minimizing the game by pressing Alt+Tab and then getting back into it.
#7 Transistor Crash to Desktop (CTD) Fix
If your game is randomly being crashed without any specific error messages, you need to turn off Steam Overlay. Disable it, restart Steam and try launching the game again.
#8 Transistor Resolution Limitation Issue
By default, Transistor is designed to support displays up to 1080p.
If you need more, you can do that by editing the launch options via Steam. “-x 1920 -y 1080” are the parameters you need to add without quotes.
Obviously, you can adjust the x and y values according to your own wish. If you come across any other issues, comment and we will try to help you out!
