Chris Bruce, Game director at Sony London Studio posted on Playstation blog announcing the release of the Sony exclusive Rhythm title Singstar for the Playstation 4 as well as a major changes for the current SingStar title.

Bruce mentioned that Singstar won’t require a Wireless microphone to play the game anymore. Fans can use their smartphones to play the game thanks to a free Singstar app that turns their smartphone into a wireless microphone.

The app is compatible with both the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 versions of SingStar and will be available for iOS and Android devices. Other than the microphone feature, the app also lets players create and manage their in-game playlists.

Bruce also said the team is hard at work to optimize the social experience of SingStar, allowing players to share their scores, photos and recordings directly to Facebook and Twitter. The game will feature an improved score system which will reward players for completing game goals, winning challenges and more.

He went on to talk about SingStar: Ultimate Party for the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 which he says will be great for people new to the title. The game will feature 30 new songs with more songs available to download via the SingStore.
