Free-to-Play Neverwinter Announces Tyranny Of Dragons
Fresh on the heels of newly released content, Neverwinter is already preparing its fourth module, titled Tyranny of Dragons, to release for the massively multiplayer online (MMO) game on August 14, 2014. Not a lot of details are known for the additional content, but it should be connected to other ventures in the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) franchise.
For instance, the Tyranny of Dragons story line will be connected to the tabletop version of the D&D roleplaying game (RPG). Hoard of the Dragon Queen, releasing on August 19, as well as The Rise of Tiamat, subsequently coming on October 21, will offer pen and paper fans some adventures tied to the same lore.
Moreover, company WizKids will provide a line of figurines based off Tyranny of Dragons, with the content’s heroes and villains as characters. These can be used to reenact the tabletop versions as well.
Additionally, Wizards of the Coast is preparing a new rules set for the franchise, which will be reflected in a new edition of the D&D Player’s Handbook, Monster Manual and Dungeon Master’s Guide. It’s unclear whether this will also change the rules in Neverwinter, though it wouldn’t be unexpected.
Just last month, Neverwinter introduced the third module that went back to visit the iconic environment of Icewind Dale. That’s not bad for a free-to-play game.
If there’s one way to get your audience to keep visiting your game, it’s definitely churning out content.
