Choosing your Role

Needless to say, but Templar has a very high damage output along with a wide arsenal of de-buffing spells at its disposal. Still, most of the players (playing as a Templar) that you will encounter in the game will most prolly go with Tank or Healer.

If you wish to fulfill the role of a tank then you might want to consider spending in Aedric Spear Skill Line. With Focused Charge, you will hinder an enemy’s ability to cast spells along with dealing Magic Damage.

Sun Shield will allow your Templar to absorb more damage by producing a shield around your character. And lastly, with Piercing Spear, your Templar will be able to have increased blocking rate and more Critical Hit chances.

If you wish to become a healer then restoring light should be your preferred Skill Tree. With this Skill Tree, you will not only be able to heal yourself over time, but you will also keep your teammates alive in long battles.

A good ability from this Skill Tree is Rite of Passage which heals the Templar and reduces all the damage taken up by your party members. Rushed Ceremony is another ability which heals your Templar and all the party members with 30% HP.

The last Skill Tree is called Dawn’s Wrath and it primarily focuses on AoE damage and de-buffing spells. With Nova, you would be able to yield massive AoE damage along with reducing enemies’ attacking power.

With Solar Inflict, you would be able to ooze out decent Magic Damage and increase the weapon and spell damage for the following attack.

Templar Builds

Build #1Click To View Build
Both bars in this build somewhat focus on healing your Templar and all the party members, but the first bar also encourages a bit fighting, whereas; the second bar is totally into healing.

For the first bar, Purifying Light and Reflective Light have been used because together, both of these spells provide multiple-target snare and healing over time.

Out of Sanguine Altar, Ring of Preservation, and Radiant Aura, the former are Stamina-based guild skills and the latter is a slotted skill which tends to provide Stamina and Health regeneration.

For the Ultimate, Practiced Incarnation has been used which is Channeling Ability that heals you and all the nearby allies.

For the second bar, Inner Light will provide you with increased Critical Hit chances by 20%. Both Restoring Focus and Extended Ritual are AoE are effects that provide any nearby ally with (+30) healing.

Restoring Focus provides armor and spell resistance and Extended Ritual also negates the effect of any negative effects on your allies.

Mutagen and Restoration Staff automatically heals your Templar when the HP is below 20%. It also synergies with Restoration Expert which heals any ally below 30% HP. As for Breath of Life, it instantly heals wounded allies that are nearby.

Thanks to TechnoMHendo for this build!

Build #2Click To View Build
This build is designed for completing solo runs, 4-man dungeons, and PvP group battles. The primary focus of this build is to deal damage with solar and fire spells.

However, the second bar revolves around minor healing for party members along with AoE attack/defense. 34 points have been invested in Health, 15 in Magicka, and 0 in Stamina.

For the first bar, Inner Light has been used which increases Critical Hit chances by 20%. The Volcanic Rune knocks back enemies for 4 seconds and also deals fire damage.

With Power of the Light, you would be able to increase the damage output of your character and all nearby allies. Dark Flare is certainly one of the best Templar spells.

With this spell, you will not only deal high amount of damage, but also increase damage for following ability and reduce enemies’ health regeneration.

And lastly, Vampire’s Bane should be used for strong fire damage and should be reapplied after every 6.5 seconds.

When we talk about the second bar, it is more inclined towards AoE healing and shielding. Inner Light has also been added in this bar, it will provide increased Critical Hit chances to Elemental Ring.

Searing Light will get you immediate AoE damage and enemies will get 50% miss chance. Restoring Focus is another great spell which increases spells and armor resistance along with increased health regeneration.

The next spell Radiant Aura will provide you with (+15) HP and Stamina. And lastly, the Ultimate Ability is Solar Disturbance which snares, damages, and reduces damage taken from enemies.

For the gear, 7/7 light armor for reduced Magicka cost, increased base Magicka and spell penetration. Along with this, use Fire Staff for increased damage via DoT.

Thanks Gator-King for this build.

Build #3Click To View Build
The primary purpose of this build is to deal damage with melee attacks and use healing spells to heal your Templar and nearby allies. All the points have been assigned to Health and the Imperial has been selected as the race to get maximum health and maximum stamina.

In this first bar, Blazing Spear has been selected for ranged AoE damage, stunning, and stamina regeneration. Critical Rush deals critical damage and Forward Momentum increases weapon damage and removes snare effects.

With Wrecking Blow, you would be able to knock back enemies, stun them, and increase the damage of following attack.

Your last ability is Biting Jabs which is very strong AoE melee attack. It also has a high Critical Hit chance on smaller enemies and nearby enemies take 100% more damage.

As for the Ultimate, it is Flawless Dawnbreaker.

As for the second bar, Binding Javelin is a ranged attack that knocks down enemies for 3.5 seconds to provide you with a chance to heal yourself or your allies.

Crippling Slash immobilizes targets for 2 seconds and snares by 60%.

Once again, using Crippling Slash, you would be able to create a distance for healing. With Absorb Magic, any incoming spell will heal you instead of damaging you.

In order to gain additional 15% HP and Stamina, your Radiant Aura should be considered. And lastly, Ritual of Rebirth is another AoE heal that will heal you for double.

When we talk about gear recommendation, two handed sword for the first bar and one hand and Shield for the second bar should be considered. As for armor, 5 Medium and 2 Light is the recommended one.

Thanks Gator-King for this build.

Build #4Click To View Build
In this build, bar one is used primarily used for tanking and the second bar is designed to fulfill support roles.

In the first bar, the Puncturing Sweep is capable of dealing AoE damage and knocking down enemies. Radiant Aura is mainly used for Stamina and HP regeneration, but it can be swapped with anything of your choice.

Ransack is quite important in the fact that you will need it to taunt and armor buffing. If you get overwhelmed by enemies then your Power Slam should get in which is great for taking out a single large target.

And lastly, with Empowering Sweep, you will get some increased armor and AoE damage.

Like I have aforementioned, second bar is mainly used for providing support to your teammates. Purifying Light is single-targeted damage buff and also provides a bit of healing on the side.

Ritual of Rebirth is for AoE heals for your party. And while you are providing support, you must have Ring of Preservation for HP, stamina, and spell resistance for your party.

For the Ultimate, Solar Ultimate is the best choice since it is the most powerful Ultimate.

For the gear recommendation, 5 pieces of heavy armor and 2 pieces of light armor are recommended. With these, you would be able to have increased Magicka recovery and increased Magic Damage resistance.

For the weapon, any one-hand shield with a ranged weapon should do.

Build #5Click To View Build
The main purpose of this build is to deal massive amount of damage and take out multiple number of enemies at the same time. It uses a good balance between HP and Magicka and ensures that you don’t run out these resources while in a battle.

Your main tactic should be running into multiple mobs with Backlash and storing up all of the initial damage and hitting with the Puncturing Sweep while your HP is still high.

At this point, you need to switch to your Immovable Brute and Blazing Shield which will ensure that you don’t run of your HP too quickly. Your next move should include Brawler and Puncturing Sweep for a considerable amount of AoE damage.
