Bayonetta 2 Japanese Release Window Narrowed Down to Summer 2014

Nintendo has shed some more light on the release date of the upcoming Bayonetta 2. The hack and slash being developed by Platinum Games is set to be released in summer 2014. Not a clear release date but it’s still better than the vague ‘2014’ release announced by Nintendo back in January.

This narrowed down release date is however only for Japan; the western regions still have the whole year as a release window.

Among the upcoming Wii U exclusive games, Bayonetta 2 is one of the most anticipated titles. A direct sequel to the 2009 game Bayonetta, players take control of a witch fighting against angels and demons both. The game has its own version of ‘Bullet Time” from Max Payne, called the ‘Witch Time’ which is activated when attacks are dodged at the last moment.

The game has been in development for quite a long time and it was first revealed in 2012. The announcement that Bayonetta 2 would be a Wii U exclusive was met with protests from fans of the original game to which Platinum Games producer Atsushi Inaba responded by saying that the game wouldn’t even be possible if it hadn’t been for the partnership with Nintendo.

More details about the game are expected to be revealed during E3 2014, including the newly added two player mode which wasn’t in the original game.
