Microsoft Developing AAA Real-time Strategy Game For Xbox One

By   /   May 6, 2014

Microsoft Game Studios is looking for a new Software Development Engineer Lead for a “new AAA title within an established and well-loved strategy game franchise” according to the recent update to their career page.

The job doesn’t exactly point which franchise Microsoft has in mind but with franchises like Age of Empires, Age of Mythology and the recent Halo Wars all being established and well-loved, it’s likely to be one of these.

Microsoft Game Studio Head Phil Spencer and 343 Industries Studio Head Frank O’Connor have hinted at the possibility of a sequel to Halo Wars on Xbox One, which was a surprise hit selling over 2 million copies worldwide.

With Age of Empires HD available and Age of Mythology HD releasing this month, a sequel to Halo Wars is the only other RTS franchise that remains.

Few years ago, O’Connor had mentioned that Halo universe can support more sequels but he felt that the console should not be saturated with ‘too many’ different experiences at that time.
