Destiny Will Cost $500 Million To Activision Blizzard

In the Milken conference that was held last week in Los Angeles, the CEO of Activision Blizzard Bobby Kotick reveals that the studio will have to spend almost $500 Million on the development and the advertisement of their upcoming MMO shooter Destiny. He said:

If you’re making a $500 million bet you can’t take that chance with someone else’s IP, the stakes for us are getting bigger.

This news was confirmed by one of the spokesperson for Activision and clarified that the figure mentioned above includes marketing, packaging, infrastructure support, royalties and the other major expenses.

Previously, the most amount spent on a video game was $260 Million, which was spent by Rockstar games to bring the highly popular open world title Grand Theft Auto V to PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

So many analysts are predicting that this is not a very bright move from Activision considering that the Destiny is a new IP, and it needs to find its footing before that high amount of money is spent on it.

Destiny is scheduled to release on 9th of September for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation4 and PlayStation3.
