World of Darkness Screenshots and Instruction Manual Appear Online
A number of informative leaks regarding the cancelled Vampire MMO World of Darkness have appeared online after CCP cancelled the project.
Redditor Idoicracy posted links to the game’s Screenshots, Instruction Manual which was available only to the Alpha Testers, in-game footage from EVE Fanfest 2012, Clothes Tech demo, the game’s trailer and the World of Darkness panel discussions from EVEFest 2012 and 2013.
An interesting feature gathered from the leak is Permanent Death in the game. When players broke the rules of the Masquerade, they lost humanity, which is needed for the player to respawn in the game.
Losing all of the character’s humanity would then prevent the character from respawning, thus suffering permanent death. What’s even more interesting is that if the player wants, he can live as a normal human being until converted.
World of Darkness was announced in 2006 after CCP merged with White Wolf, makers of Vampire the Masquerade RPG, and had been in development since 2007.
CCP suffered many lay-offs a couple of years back but continued development until the end of 2013 when CCP Boss Hilmar Veigar Petursson announced that the development has been cancelled and that the team now will focus on their EVE franchise.
Based on the universe of Vampire the Masquerade RPG, World of Darkness would’ve been the third title in the series.
