Next game in the Call of Duty franchise is codenamed as “Blacksmith” and just like the previous games in the series, the official announcement will come in May while the full gameplay reveal will happen at E3.

So far we know that the next iteration in the Call of Duty series will be developed by Sledgehammer games but it is still unknown whether it will a Black Ops 3 or Modern Warfare 4 or maybe something new entirely.

First image of the game was released almost a week ago showing a detailed character model of an in-game character of the upcoming title. The developer claims that this will be the “most ambitious, most creative game [they’ve] ever made.”

From what we have heard so far, the developers are targeting Call of Duty 2014 for the next-gen platforms and PC but there is a huge possibility that the game will also release for the Xbox 360 and PS3 as well.

Activision has been rotating the developers for the Call of Duty franchise to keep things fresh as every team brings something new to the game. Now with Sledgehammer Studio, there are total of three studios working on the game each year, including Treyarch and Infinity Ward Studios.

Although Call of Duty releases every year but it still manages to break the sales record every single time based on its extreme popularity.
