Super Smash Bros. Screenshots Show Changes to Beam Swords and Yoshi’s Egg

By   /   Apr 28, 2014

A couple of new screenshots for Super Smash Bros. were released last week to highlight a couple of minor changes being made to the game. Writing on the Miiverse, the game’s director Masahiro Sakurai explained just how these changes will have an effect.

For the above screenshot, Sakurai wrote: “For the first time in the Smash series, Beam Swords will feature graduated colors. The attack item on the left is the Fire Bar. This is a peculiar weapon that becomes shorter after each swing.”

Super Smash Bros - Yoshi's Egg

As for the second shot showing Yoshi throwing an egg, Sakurai wrote: “Yoshi’s Egg Throw now leaves a rainbow trail, and we’ve improved the pose Samus strikes when she fires the Paralyzer. Every staff member is working hard as we brush up whatever we can.”

Earlier this month, Sakurai revealed that the Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. will have “roughly the same types of Assist Trophies and Pokémon” as the Wii U version.

Super Smash Bros. is scheduled for release this Summer for the 3DS; while those wanting to play it on a Wii U will have to wait until Winter.
