The console race between Sony and Microsoft is getting bigger and bigger every day as both look forward to making their device one source of all entertainment for the fans.

There was a lot of demand by players for the inclusion of music playback especially the MP3 format, and it looks like PS4 users might just be getting that in the next firmware update for the console.

One of the insiders of gaming industry named ‘Tidux’ gave some information on the new features and changes that will be coming to PlayStation 4 in the 1.70 Firmware update and while talking about it, he made a statement:

Sure sounds like a good update, but there’s more on the horizon.

This was his first statement where he teased the announcement and afterwards he said:

MP4 sound about right.

After his statement, one of the users asked if that means we will be able to import MP3 files, to which he replied “EXPORT”.

Moreover, there is one feature called SHAREFactory coming to the PS4 in the coming update, which allows you to add your own original music to your videos. MP3 is the most commonly used format for audio files and it would be surprising if it wasn’t supported.

Would you like the support for MP3 files on your PlayStation 4?
