Featuring Marvel Characters, Disney Infinity 2.0 May Launch in August, 2014

If a report from Disney’s official fan club site D23 is to be believed, the latest iteration of Disney’s real-world toy video game – Disney Infinity 2.0 – will launch in August, 2014. Not only this, but it will also feature characters from the Marvel Universe.

The report in discussion has now been taken out, but courtesy of Infinity Inquirer, it can still be viewed via Google Cache. The statement from the D23 site reads:

Disney Infinity 2.0 is coming in August 2014, and a teaser trailer can be viewed at Marvel.com. The teaser promises such Marvel-ous additions to the game as familiar Marvel characters, objects, and vehicles – the possibilities are infinite.

Previously, it was also hinted in a marketing survey for Disney Infinity 2.0 that the game might feature characters from Marvel and Star Wars.

All of this makes sense since an invitation sent to Polygon revealed a definite partnership between Disney and Marvel on Disney Infinity 2.0.

Since the original Disney Infinity was released back in August 2013, this sequel will come exactly after one year of the original release – a pattern which was previously taken up by rival series, Skylanders.

As of now, Disney Infinity is available on Xbox 360, Playstation 3, PC, Wii, Wii U, 3DS, and iPad.
