Gucamelee Dev Drinkbox Announces a New Title “Severed”
Drinkbox Studios has been in the gaming industry for just 6 years and in that short duration, they have brought great titles like Gucamelee and Mutant Blobs Attack to the fans.
Today, the developer announced their next game called Severed, which will tell a story of a distraught warrior who is trying to solve a puzzle, “how she lost a part of her arm”. The game will be set in an open world where you will face multiple enemies which will be fought through gesture based controls from a first person perspective.
As you do more quests and go further in the game, you will gain new abilities with some powers and you will be able to turn your character into a complete “badass”.
Lead designer of the game Greg Lesky discuss the open of world structure of the game as:
The high-level structure is kind of like a Mega Man structure I would say, You can go down one path, or you can try going down one path and if it’s not really working you can go down a different path and try that path, get the new piece of armor or whatever it is from that path, and then try that first path again [as] you’ll be more upgraded.
The developers compared the combat of the game to Infinity Blade where you swipe to do the attacks on your opponents. Furthermore, the players will be given a choice to use the magic to gain advantage on the battlefield.
The game is focused on touchscreen combat, so it is very likely that the game will launch on PS Vita, 3DS and smartphones. The developers are aiming for a 2015 release for Severed.
