The Elder Scrolls Online Has an Unofficial Marketplace for Buying, Selling, Trading
The lack of an in-game auction house in The Elder Scrolls Online was proving to be a hindrance. Hence the players decided on making their own marketplace on TESO Elite forums to help everyone in buying, selling and trading goods, services and the like.
The forum section is being kept quite clean and players are asked to clearly post the necessary information on an item; as to whether they want to sell, buy or trade it. Additionally they are asked what platform they are playing on and their in-game username.
While developer ZeniMax has recognized the makeshift marketplace, the inclusion of one inside the game is still not an option. The team is against any auction house in-game, so as to protect the value of the game’s powerful gear.
“You don’t necessarily want to do a global auction house for a game with one giant server because that generally leads to all the best gear being available at very, very cheap prices,” gameplay designer Nick Konkle said. “A lot of times that can trivialize the game. You cannot have a healthy economy when there are no restrictions on getting the best stuff in the game.”
The Elder Scrolls Online launched earlier this month for PC, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions set to launch in June.
