Pokemon X and Y Sold 12 Million Copies on 3DS, New Movie Announced

Pokemon X and Y are officially the fastest selling games on the 3DS platform, when the two games were released together last year, it only took two days to sell 4 million copies. Now, another milestone has been crossed; Pokemon X and Y have managed to sell 12 million copies!

The two games were released on October 12, 2013 which means that ever since then, an average of 66000 or more games have been sold each day.

Now if we go in the depth of the sales figures; it was announced at the end of January that the two games had sold 11.6 million copies. This means that the last two months since then have also managed to sell 400,000 games.

The seemingly never ending demand of the game doesn’t stop amazing me.

Along with the announcement of the sales figures, The Pokemon Company also revealed their plans for another Pokemon movie called ‘Pokemon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction.’

“The Pokémon Company International kicked off MIPTV by announcing its newest feature-length animated film, Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction, which is now available for license. The movie features Ash and Pikachu, plus other classic Pokémon as well as those making their animation debut from the blockbuster Pokémon X and Pokémon Y video games. With more broadcast and VOD partners signed, brand-new TV animation in homes, and the new movie on the horizon, 2014 promises to be a strong year for Pokémon animation.”
