Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls Bags 2.7 Million Copies in the First Week!
The first and highly awaited expansion pack of Blizzard Entertainment flagship franchise, Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls was unleashed onto the awaiting fans on March 25, 2014.
After months of waiting, how did you expect the expansion to tread when it comes to sales? Nothing short of millions! Reaper of Souls has managed to sell 2.7 million copies just in the first week of its release.
Mike Morhaime the CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment explained their motivations behind the expansion saying that they wanted to maintain a close connection with the image of the series that the fans love:
With Reaper of Souls, we wanted to emphasize all the things that Diablo gamers have always loved about the series, from the dark gothic setting to the piles and piles of epic loot. We’re excited to see that players are enjoying the changes we’ve made to the game, and we look forward to achieving our Paragon levels alongside everyone else in the weeks and months ahead.
The 2.7 million figure includes sales from online sources as well as retailers.
The latter include shops from U.S., Canada, Europe, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau. Other territories lie Russia, the CIS, Mexico, Chile, and Brazil will get it on April 15.
