Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor Scheduled to Release on October 7
Warner Bros. has today revealed the release date of Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor through a newly released trailer.
The trailer, entitled “Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – Banished From Death Story” contains cut-scenes from the game that relay the storyline and how Talion ends up becoming part Wraith and part Ranger.
The trailer ends by informing us that Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will release on October 7, 2014 for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
Pre-orders for the game are now open and doing so will net you access to The Dark Ranger exclusive bonus pack. The pack contains a unique Dark Ranger Character skin “that embodies Talion’s darker side” and a Test of Power Challenge Mode where players can earn powerful runes upon defeating Sauron’s Captains. The game will also feature leaderboards where players can compare their speed, skill and strategy against friends.
Warner Bros. also revealed an iOS companion app for the game called Palantir, which will “sync with game assets and the final game, to reveal additional layers of information, insights and fan-authored content, creating a unique second-screen experience.” It’s now available at the iTunes store and works with the new trailer. There’s no news on whether it will brought over to Android or not.
Shadow of Mordor is an open-world RPG set in the Lord of the Rings universe. It’s being developed by Monolith Productions and attempts to bring fabled locations from the book to life in the game. Whether or not we’ll be able to battle Sauron himself remains to be seen. Perhaps a DLC release for later will be the solution.
