Persona 4 (Vanilla) Announced to Join PS2 Classics on Playstation Network

Persona 4 is set to release on the PlayStation Network as a PS2 Classic. Not to be mistaken with Persona 4: The Golden; the enhanced version of the game which includes Extra levels, New OSTs and other gameplay features.

Developed by Atlus, Persona 4 is the fifth game of the cult hit Persona title part of the Shin Megami Tensei series.

Developed for the PS2, Persona 4 is a turn-based RPG and Social Simulation hybrid centered around the Player-Named Protagonist during his visit to the rural town of Inaba which is haunted by an urban legend about strange sightings in powered off televisions during rainy days.

Like all Persona titles, the story involves the player fighting monsters in randomly generated dungeons by the night and doing everyday activities during the day.

The story unfolds in days rather the progress of the player in the dungeons, during which the player makes connections with NPCs who strengthen his Persona, Avatars summoned during combat, and sometimes join his party to take on the dungeons as well as the main storyline villains.

Persona 4 received critical acclaim when it released in 2008 on the PS2. One wonders why a old version is expected to release on PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 rather the PlayStation 4.
