League of Legends: Ultra Rapid Fire Mode is Here to Stay

By   /   Apr 1, 2014

In celebration of April Fool’s Day, Riot Games released a new update for League of Legends that added a new Ultra Rapid Fire mode (URF) to the game.

What looked to be a prank has been confirmed to be the real thing and is here to stay. The new Ultra Rapid Fire mode is similar to the ‘WTF’ mode which vanilla Dota players would remember.

All champions begin with a massive 80 percent cooldown reduction on abilities, activated items and summoner spells. All mana and energy costs are removed and ranged champions have their attack speed bonuses doubled. Furthermore all champions receive 25% additional critical hit percentage.

That pretty much results in a very quick game. You can pretty much decide on a winner in the first 10 minutes of gameplay. Unfortunately with a mode such as this, some champions have been deemed too troublesome by Riot. Both Kassadin and Ryze have been removed from this mode; and Teemo and Shaco’s traps have been capped.

“We believe that being forewarned is forearmed so we’re testing next season’s changes with the Ultra Rapid Fire mode,” announced Rioter Pwyff. “Full item builds will take less time to buy, big teamfights will happen more often and no more worrying about pesky resources! From the feedback we’ve received internally, we think you guys will love these updates.”

You can update your game and start mashing your keys now.
