One Piece: Unlimited World Red Gets Coliseum Mode
Publisher Namco Bandai announced that One Piece: Unlimited World Red will receive updated content. More specifically, a Coliseum Mode will be put in to resemble the latest episodes of the anime series.
In this gameplay segment, pirates fight for the top ranking. One of the Royal Seven Warlords of the Sea, namely Trafalgar Law, will be present as a playable character during this part.
There’s also a battle with Donquixote Doflamingo, who will be appearing in this for the first time.
One Piece: Unlimited World Red is said to take place over the course of the entire anime series. There is, however, also a new story being worked on, which will come from One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda.
In this tale, the pirates will meet with a raccoon called Pato, who can bring things to life by writing. Pato will eventually help protagonist Luffy to take on The Red Count, after the villain captures crew members on Forgotten Island.
As far as originality goes, that’s pretty much the limits of where One Piece: Unlimited World Red goes. Usually, these titles end up being simplistic brawlers, revolving on their diverse cast to perform a series of fast-paced combos.
At least this one tries. Alongside roleplaying game (RPG) elements, the game also has a cooperative mode and mini-games like fishing and bug catching.
One Piece: Unlimited World Red will be available later this year for Playstation 3, PS Vita, Nintendo Wii U and 3DS.
