Sonic Enters Hyrule in Upcoming DLC for Sonic Lost World
Soon after the release of Yoshi’s Island DLC for Sonic Lost World, the latest Sonic title for the Wii U, The Legend of Zelda DLC has been announced and will be available for free.
Dubbed “The Legend of Zelda Zone” , the DLC adds more than recycled levels to the game; Sonic will don Link’s garb and the DLC will feature an a open-world adventure set in Hyrule rather the fast-paced but linear gameplay Sonic titles are known for.
Though the linear levels are not absent from the game entirely, whilst Hyrule is open-world; the dungeons maintain their linear and somewhat similar design to the original Sonic levels but reskinned to match Hyrule’s theme.
There will be no time limit to the game, giving the player full freedom to explore Hyrule and the dungeons at leisure. Link also appears in levels but it’s unclear if he will play a part in the game or will only appear as fan-service.
Sega is utilizing its partnership with Nintendo to bring more Nintendo themed content to Sonic Lost World. Earlier there was Mario and Sonic at the olympics and the addition of Sonic to Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl. For now, the Nintendo themed DLC is available only to the Wii U version of Sonic Lost World.
