You Might Get PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Games on Rent at Redbox

So do you think you would rather rent out games for the latest generation of consoles than spend $60 on buying them? Well, it might be possible for you to get PlayStation 4, Wii U and Xbox One games on rent if a NeoGAF thread is to be believed.

Someone at the forum found a page on the official website of Redbox Automated Retail, a company that rents out DVDs, BLuray discs and vidogames in the United States. On the page in question, they were teasing incoming games for Wii U, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

These were the games that were reportedly listed on the page:

  • Super Mario 3D World
  • Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
  • Super Luigi Bros. U
  • Lego City Undercover
  • Call of Duty: Ghosts
  • Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
  • Thief
  • Killzone: Shadow Fall

Out of these, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts and Thief were slated in the coming soon list. Apparently they will be added in April.

The listing has since been removed but you can get a look at the screenshot above.

There are certain users who have reported that certain stores of Redbox are already offering Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U titles. In that case this listing might be because they are broadening the scope of the offer to more areas.

Other than Redbox, GameFly is also offering PlayStation 4 and Xbox One games on rent for the latest generation of consoles but they don’t have physical kiosks.

So, who wants a copy of Super Mario 3D World, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts or any of the other games listed?
