Angry Birds: Epic is a Turn-based RPG With Its Own Crafting System
For the last week Rovio has been teasing a new Angry Birds game that according to them is going to be epic. The game has finally been revealed and guess what, the game is really called Angry Birds: Epic.
Unlike the previous installments in the popular franchise, Epic is going to be a turn-based role-playing game. This new is not official but Kotaku believes it to be so. According to them the game will also have an extensive crafting system that will allow players to create their own armor, weapons and potions. Raw materials for this will have to be earned in-game or else you can opt to purchase them with real money.
We can safely speculate that early in the game gathering raw materials for the early weapons will not be difficult. However with progression I reckon it’s going to take a lot of time in creating a single item. Let’s hope that Rovio is not being too greedy and that microtransactions will not have a negative impact on the game’s crafting system. The worst case scenario is that at some stage of the game, players are required to upgrade their inventory but can either wait weeks in gathering or just cough up the cash.
Angry Birds: Epic is set for a soft-launch in Canada, Australia and New Zealand later this week via iTunes. The game will be then released globally later this year for the iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8.
