If you are a fan of board games and the Portal series, this one is going to be of your interest. Last week, it was announced by Cryptozoic Entertainment that they were working on a Portal board game. Now, it has been revealed that it is not just them who ware behind it, in fact, the idea originated from Valve Corporation and it will be out in the market during the last quarter of 2014.

The release date of the Portal board game wasn’t dubious until recently. However, Cryptozoic Entertainment has now come up with a confirmed release window.

The game which is unofficially being called Portal: Uncooperative Cake Acquisition Game has been in the making since 2012 and when it releases, it would have taken up nearly three and a half years. When it comes out, it will allow two to four players take charge of Aperture Laboratories test subjects. Winning will depend on taking the lead and getting rid of the enemy test subjects.

Jeep Barnett, who has been on the development team of Portal and Portal 2 was hired by Valve to work on the Portal board game. He describes the game in these words:

“From the very first prototype, the core mechanic struck us as unique and compelling. As it evolved, it survived our rigorous process of external playtesting and iteration. (Among all the board game titles that Valve has worked on previously) this is the first that we’re sure meets the quality bar that customers expect from Valve.”

So, what do you think? Will the Portal board game soothe your craving or it will have to be Portal 3?
