Disney Registers ‘DisneyConsole.com’

By   /   Nov 10, 2013

Disney Enterprises has been found to have had registered the domain name “DisneyConsole.com” earlier this week.

The domain was registered through Corporation Service Company (CSC), a company that helps businesses protect their brands. While this could really be just a simple protective filing on Disney’s part, the notion of the entertainment company jumping into the console war is an interesting one.

Earlier this year, there were many rumors floating around regarding Disney and Apple working together on a possible video game console. Many would like to believe that the recent findings of the domain registration adds some truth to the rumor. Though it’s also possible that the domain acquisition was just to protect something special Disney have up their sleeves for Disney Interactive, which recently was released and has sold over 1,000,000 of its $75 starter packs. Its success followed developer Avalanche Software announcing a PC port of the game.

Disney has yet to officially confirm or deny the rumor about them working on a console. The company refused to comment on this domain registration as well.

This has been the year of the consoles, with the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launching later this month and Steam confirming their Steam Machines. Could we see another contender by the year’s end?
