In case you’ve missed it, a few weeks ago the Dota community was in a huge uproar because every other of Valve’s top titles such as Team Fortress 2 and Counter Strike:GO had their Halloween events introduced but not Dota 2.
There hasn’t been a new hero in over 3 months so people speculated that Valve would be putting their work resources into bringing an improved version of last year’s Halloween event called Diretide.
Halloween has passed and Dota 2, which is the most played game on Steam with an average of 500.000 people online, didn’t get anything Halloween related… and there wasn’t a single word given by Valve.
People then went on a rampage to bomb all Dota related websites using “༼ つ ◕_◕ ༽つ Give DIRETIDE” to convey their message. This message got spammed over a million times all over Twitter, on every Dota forum, on Valve’s Facebook page… on Volvo’s Facebook page (yes, the car manufacturer!) and some people even went directly to the president Barack Obama.
Valve has finally responded to all the fans and apologized, explaining why there was no Halloween event and also claiming that they are working on a huge upcoming update which they are sure that will please everyone (Hopefully Legion Commander finally added!!). Plus they ARE going to deliver Diretide to the people, even if it’s a little late.
Valve even comments on the whole Volvo Facebook bombing incident:
while we always want the community to tell us exactly how we’re doing, this is probably a good time to stop cc’ing innocent car manufacturers with your messages.
