Crafting in Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag is primarily carried out by gathering resources; mostly comprising of animal skins. These animals are in abundance and can be found with relative ease throughout the game’s world.

Assassin’s Creed 4 Black Flag Crafting

You can upgrade both Edward Kenway (the main protagonist) and his ship, Jackdaw by crafting the gear and upgrades.

As for hunting the animals, it is as easy as the crafting itself. However, some animals will pound upon you if they see you but you can get out with a brief action sequence. A pistol is recommended in such situations.

Ammo Crafting

Berserk Darts (Upgrade #1)
It is more of an upgrade of ammo already at your disposal and you won’t be crafting anything new. What this does is that it increases the effect of Berserk Darts by 20 seconds.

You need to find two Bull Shark skins to craft this. You can refer to in-game map (while roaming the seas) for a better location of Bull Sharks but we have come across some in Punta Guárico.

Berserk Darts (Upgrade #2)
Upgrade #2 of Berserk Darts increases the effect by adding 20 more seconds to the first upgrade making it to last for 40 seconds. You will need two Capuchin Monkey pelts which can be found in New Bone, Tulum, and Mistiriosa Island.

Sleeping Darts (Upgrade #1)
Just like the Berserk Darts, this upgrade adds 20 seconds more to the effect of Sleeping Darts. You will need two Black Jaguar skins which can be found in Pinos Isle and Isla Providencia.

Carry five Smoke Bombs with you with this first upgrade which requires you to collect two Hutia skins. Hutia skins can be found in Long Bay, Cayman Sound, and Jiguey.

Just like the most of the previous upgrades, this one also doubles up the amount of Smoke Bombs you can carry at a time i.e. ten. You will need two Rabbit skins which can be found in Nassau, Kingston, and Corozal.

This can be crafted with each of Red Howler Monkey and White Jaguar skin. You can get the Red Howler Monkeys in Isla Providencia and White Jaguars in Great Inagua.

This can be crafted by farming one Hammerhead Shark (bone) and one Bull Shark skin.

Whaler Outfit
Just as the name suggests, it can be crafted by farming three White Whale skins. White Whales are in abundance during the online community events. As for single player, I haven’t come across any.

If you happen to know the locations of these in the single player mode, don’t forget to share with us and the rest of the community.
