Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced a mobile version of Batman: Arkham Origins which will release within the launch window of the consoles and PC version. Usually mobile counterparts of a game tend to have a unique title. In this case though Warner has gone with the same name, which might end up confusing a lot of people.
Mortal Kombat developer NetherRealm Studios is heading development of the iOS version which is going to be available as a free download. Information on the Android version though is scarce. The specific version will be released later during the holidays and knowing NetherRealm’s sluggish approach to past Android titles, this might even be pushed back to early 2014. It’s also uncertain whether the Android version will be free to download as well or not.
Players will take on numerous villains from Gotham City as Batman and upon successful completion of quests will be rewarded with new gadgets, unlockables and more.
“We created an integrated gaming ecosystem between the Batman: Arkham Origins mobile and console games, which delivers rewards and unlocks that provide greater experiences for players,” said Ed Boon, creative director at NetherRealm Studios. “The mobile game goes hand in hand with what is offered on the other platforms.”
Batman: Arkham Origins will release on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC on October 25, 2013. The iOS version is said to be released shortly after that.
