The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is essentially a sequel to the classic SNES title ‘A Link to the Past’. It goes without saying that ‘A Link to the Past’ featured one of the greatest stories ever told in the Zelda franchise and it was in itself an experience that makes up for a great part of our yesteryears.
A Link Between Worlds is just a month away from its official release and Nintendo has thought it a prime time to release a new trailer which details the new story and also shows us the new villain Yuga, an evil sorcerer which seemingly can be found abundant in the Zelda universe.
Yuga bears some resemblance to the well known Ganondorf villain and wields the magical prowess of the wizard Aghanim from Link to the Past. In the trailer he is shown using his evil powers to turn people in flat 2D paintings, an ability which Link can use in the game to access otherwise inaccessible areas.
A secondary world called Lorule is also revealed, one which is a darker version of Hyrule and is governed by Hilda, a mirror counterpart of Zelda. According to producer Eiji Aonuma, the “conflict” between Zelda and Hilda will play a significant part in the game’s the story. “Naturally they’re both princesses, and they both have kingdoms, and they’re both thinking about their kingdoms,” he said. “But they also have different desires (and) different motives each to their own. How those interact and conflict is how the story develops.”
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds releases for the 3DS on November 22, 2013.
