What do you do when you wake up one morning, freshly hung over, and getting a verbal catheter from your significant other who, at the moment, doesn’t find you so significant? Go to the garage and get in your mid-life crisis of a car, of course. But what if that car were to suddenly disappear? You’d obviously call the police, if not outright accuse your current abuser of purposely losing your most prized obsession. What if said disappearing vehicle happened in the virtual no-man’s land of Grand Theft Auto V? You wouldn’t call the cops, they’d likely shoot you for no other reason than appearing polygonal in a three-dimensional rendering. No, what you have here is a glitch.
This particular car-swallowing glitch is activated by the wormhole that is the garage of GTA 5. Pro Tip: Don’t use the garage if you have a vehicle you’re particularly fond of! At least not until Rockstar arrives in their caravan of handy tools and physicists and patches up that black hole in your garage. No patch yet for your heart.
Here’s what the very wealthy folks at Rockstar said:
“We have received some reports about problems with cars and garages, particularly after upgrading and then completing a mission, and are looking into this now. Unfortunately, we do not currently have a workaround to recover a car if it is missing.”
“In the meantime, please try to avoid parking a car in a garage, driving one already in a garage, or getting in a default vehicle, when playing as a character other than the one with your upgrades.”
Check out this guide to let you know where all those crazy garages are located, so you can, y’know, avoid them. For now.
