Just as the actual release date for Grand Theft Auto 5 draws nearer, fans are getting pretty worked up about it, some are even trying to create excitement about things that aren’t really there. As if there isn’t a shit load of an excitement already; sorry to break it to you but the website claiming a PC version release date for GTA 5 is as fake as a three dollar bill!
Some days ago a website named “Rockstar Announcement” had surfaced and apparently it was counting down towards Grand Theft Auto 5 PC version’s release. Initially an almost legit website, sadly it has turned out to be yet another hoax.
Had it been true we would have the PC version of the game in our hands after a fortnight – the website gives October 1 as the release date. Alas, it isn’t.
Only that this time around it wasn’t some fanboy who tried to create fake hype but some shady looking cheap money making website that decided it could cash on the name of this year’s most anticipated game.
Digging into the website’s source code, the guys at CinemaBlend have found rather too obvious glitches that have cleared any hopes people had about the website to be a legitimate one.
First off, the website’s title sounds too weird, if Rockstar had to announce something like that, they would have gone with their official website and created a page to it. To top that up, there is nothing linking this to Rockstar’s official website and they haven’t mentioned anything like that too.
In fact, it has backlinks to a fishy looking website named adixy.com; a website that superficially increase your followers or likes for a price. Now unless Rockstar owes something to a cheap looking business likes that, I don’t see why they’d do this if it were them.
Lastly, the ownership of the website if checked through whois.com gives there details:
Registration Service Provided By: Namecheap.com
Registered through: eNom, Inc.
Umm, namecheap? Really, that’s where GTA 5’s next big announcement will come from? I don’t think so.
So yes, better luck next time adixy.com guys!
Officially, Rockstar has not talked about a PC version as of now, of course that doesn’t mean there won’t be any. A game as big as this is supposed to get a PC version. We are assuming that Rockstar is holding off the project (and/or announcement there off) for a future date. Fingers crossed though!
