Sony Apologizes Over GTA V Leak; Game Confirmed to Have Gone Gold

Sony has apologized for the mistake they made which in turn spoiled GTA V for some.

Earlier this weekend, assets for Grand Theft Auto V were made available to everyone in Europe who had pre-ordered the digital copy of the game on the PlayStation Network. It didn’t take long for them to plow through the files and start posting the game’s new assets and possible spoilers on websites and forums around the web.

Sony quickly stepped in to fix the error and has now issued an apology to both Rockstar Games and consumers:

Regrettably, some people who downloaded the digital pre-order of Grand Theft Auto V through the PlayStation Store in Europe were able to access certain GTA V assets. These assets were posted online. We have since removed the digital pre-order file from the PlayStation Store in Europe. We sincerely apologize to Rockstar and GTA fans across the world who were exposed to the spoiler content. GTA V is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year with a very passionate following, and we’re looking forward to a historic launch on September 17.

Amongst the leaked files include the soundtrack of the game and other story reveals. So far I haven’t come across any major spoilers but one can never be too careful.

In other news Rockstar has confirmed Grand Theft Auto V to have gone gold. The game is now fully complete in terms of development and will soon start shipping out to retailers.

Grand Theft Auto V releases worldwide on September 17 for the PS3 and Xbox 360. A PC consideration has yet to be hinted by Rockstar but will mostly follow next year around summer.
