Diablo 3 won’t be Next-Gen Launch Title – Blizzard Confirms

This might come as a bad news to those who are anxiously waiting for the next generation consoles and are loyal fans of the dungeon crawling, hack & slash, action role playing game Diablo 3. As purported previously, Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo 3 will not be a launch title for the next generation consoles.

The news came out through an interview of Diablo 3 developers at the DiabloFans website. Here the developers were quick to remark that fans will not see Diablo at the launch of PS4 and Xbox One. Reason behind this is that the team has only just received the tools for the next gen version of the game and it will take up to 2014 to pull all the pieces together.

Also, it is just the PlayStation 4 version that has been announced by Blizzard so far and there has been no say of an Xbox One version so it is safe to assume that it is only PS4 that is being talked about here. The interview also states that there are no plans of bringing the game to handheld devices as yet.

Remember that the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Diablo 3 will hit the racks on 3rd of September 2013, that is two months prior to the speculated release date of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One – counting from now it’s just four months and its only logical that the game would be delayed.

Nevertheless, who doesn’t want a piece of the fastest selling PC game onto their next gen console right after the unpacking? Diablo 3 sold 3.5 million copies in the first 24 hours of its release and broke all records in 2012 by stashing 12 million units in the year 2012 – now that’s anticipation!
