Evo 2013 has finally arrrived, and the fighting game community couldn’t be happier right now. With all the tournaments going on (I’m watching the Super Smash Bros pools right now), there’s tons of stuff to do if you’re interested in fighting games at all.
Developers are clearly paying attention though as a number of popular titles are being patched this weekend. If you’re a fan of Capcom, then you’ll be happy to hear that Darkstalkers Resurrection is one of those games being patched.
The patch goes online today and brings a few things to the table that you’ll probably be happy to hear. First up is a feature that makes playing online a lot more tolerable (not to say it wasn’t already).
Now when you’re matched up with another player online, there’s a 30 second time limit for you both to ready up. If one of you doesn’t ready up in time, they’ll be kicked from the lobby, allowing you to go and find someone who isn’t wasting your time.
A chime will also sound when you successfully find an opponent online, meaning you don’t have to pay attention to the screen whilst you’re waiting for an opponent.
Secondly is the stage select screen. It’s been automatically set so the the default stage is random (Much like Street Fighter IV), as that is the most selected stage for online play.
Tips displayed at the bottom of the screen have been randomised as well, so you should see a lot less of Jon Talbain’s Mother.
The CPU difficulty settings have also been added to Training Mode, so you can adjust your AI opponent’s difficulty when you’re playing against them for practice, much like the AI in Arcade Mode.
