Eidos Montreal announced Thief to be releasing on the next-gen consoles and high-end PCs but did not confirm whether they would be heading for current-gen platforms as well.

This eventually led to a lot of speculations and rumors arising between community members who majorly though the game to just be too high-end to be able to run properly on a PS3 and Xbox 360.

Stéphane Roy, senior producer on the game has now announced that Thief would indeed be coming to the PS3 and Xbox 306.

Yep, it’s official! Thief is now confirmed for PS3 and Xbox 360 – in addition to PC, PS4 and Xbox One! And, as importantly, the game will ship for ALL platforms simultaneously.

While the gameplay experience will be same between both current and next-gen consoles; difference will only be seen in the visuals which apparently will be a bit toned down for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

In related news, Sony released 10 minutes of gameplay footage yesterday, which was originally shown at E3 running on the PlayStation 4. In the video, we’re introduced to a City which is ruled by the Baron with an iron fist. He’s corrupt, ruthless, and has everything you’d expect a game villain to have.

His actions though soon spark a revolution, which is where our favorite thief Garrett comes in. He is tasked with infiltrating the Baron’s manor and steal…. borrow a precious gem called the Heart of the Lion.
