Revealed yesterday, Disney is all set to introduce The Lone Ranger into the already overwhelming play sets of the toy-video game Disney Infinity.

Combining all of its franchises into a game, Disney is all set to release Infinity on the 18th of August this year. The game revolves around two game modes; Toy Box and Play Set where playrs get to hoose their favorite characters and go on a voyage of adventures.

Toy Box is a free-play mode where users can easily customize the play. It’s a sandbox that lets you create and explore your own world and unlock items on the way. Play Set, on the other hand, lets you choose figurines and enter their exclusive gameplay.

Each of the figurines has their own setting, for instance, you could go sailing with Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean crew or choose to roam around the Monsters University with frighteningly dedicated classmates.

Disney Infinity already has quite a few play sets, including The Incredibles, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Monsters University, Toy Story, Cars, Wreck-It Ralph and Phineas and Ferb. The Lone Ranger will be introducing a westernized element to the game being based on the upcoming Johnny Depp film that goes by the same name.

Infinity is apparently similar to Skylanders and is being termed as an attempt to counter Activision Blizzard, their rivals. A platform plugged into the console detects the playset you put on to the reader and reciprocates that as a message to give you the character and its personalized environ in the game.

In an interview with Gamesbeat, the VP of Avalanche Studios the developers of Infinity shared that the platform will aid in simplifying future developments since Disney has such a large number of franchises for instance some of them could simply be added as a playset to Infinity instead of having to develop a complete new game.

Having The Lone Ranger playset at your disposal means you get to play as The Lone Ranger and Johnny Depp himself as Tonto, his aide finding and killing you enemies through ricocheting bullets and of course maintain your train!

Your main objective will be to bring the villain Butch Cavendish to justice in their own messy way. It’s a colorful world at Disney Infinity.

When released, the game will be available on PC, Wii U, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
