Microsoft has announced the arrival of a Twitch.tv app for the Xbox 360 which will allow gamers “access to 300 of the most popular streams”.
The streaming app is currently available only in the United States and to those with an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Additionally it will also be kinect-enabled, allowing players to navigate using gestures and voice controls.
As it is with Twitch’s official website, content will include tournaments, events, play-throughs, all organized by game or popularity.
Twitch receives a total of 34 million unique visitors every month from all corners of the world. With their new partnership with Microsoft, the streaming site may just double its monthly visitors.
“Our app for Xbox 360 brings Twitch video to the television and into the living room of millions of Xbox Live members for the first time,” said CEO Emmet Shear in a statement . “Given the huge number Xbox owners and how many of them love gaming spectatorship, it’s a natural fit to bring the Twitch experience to the 360.”
Twitch launched during E3 2011 and since then has partnered with high-profile companies and names in the industry.
