Mods are scattered all throughout the world of Defiance. You can find them in stores and missions. With mods you can make your gun a weapon of mass destruction. However, modding a gun can be a difficult process.
Defiance Weapons Modding
To begin modding you must have these: weapon, mod and at least 100 EGO rating. To start modding you need to go to the ‘Salvage Matrix.’ You can access the Salvage Matrix through the loadout menu.
Once in the Salvage Matrix, select a weapon and it will show you all the available options depending on the weapon and your EGO rating. You can break down a weapon to give you ‘ark salvage.’ Different colored weapons give you different amount of ark salvage. White – 250, Green – 500, Blue – 750, Purple – 1000 and Orange – 1250.
You should break down any weapons you don’t want or need because for modding a weapon you need requires a lot of ark salvage.
Keep in mind that you cannot mod any weapon which you have currently equipped.
Once you have the gun unequipped you will have the two options of retrieving and removing the mods. Removing the mods gives you the weapon in its original state but destroys the mods. Retrieving the mods gives you back the mods but destroys the weapons.
Furthermore, removing or retrieving the mods will cost you ark salvage and time. Naturally, retrieving the mod will cost more than removing the mod.
You can add mod slots too. Doing that will also cost you ark salvage ad time.
Now, let’s talk about the actual mods. There are four mod types; Stock, barrel, magazine, and scope. These mods are also classified according to their rarity like guns.
You can find mods side quests, arkfalls, hotshots, and rampages. However, there are a lso a few vendors which deal in mods only. They are: Headlands Transport, Cronkhite Station and the faction vendors of Toolworks, VBI, Soleptor.
Defiance Synergy Sets
A synergy set is something which can help your weapon out immensely. For example if you have two weapons (one primary and one secondary) of the same synergy set equipped then you will get bonuses. Synergy sets which do not require mods are: Hard-Boiled, Machinist, Nano-Executioner, Nano-Mastery, Outlaw, Sawbones, Survivalist, Veteran and Wrecker.
Synergy sets also work with mods.If you have mods of the same synergy set attached to your weapon of the same synergy set then you will get bonuses. Synergy sets of mods are: Assassin, Brutal, Cannoneer, EGO Precision, Prepared, Quartermaster, Rolling Thunder, Run-n-Gun, Scavenger and Stalker.
Unlike the mods, synergy sets are not strewn here and there. You will not find them just by exploring the world. Best way to get them is through the tree main faction vendors: Toolworks, VBI, and Soleptor. Paradise and Echelon each have synergy sets available to purchase too.
These synergies work with two weapons.
Adds +2% refresh self-revive on a kill.
Take 5% less damage while reloading.
Adds +5% nano-effect chance on a kill.
Adds +5% nano-effect chance on a critical hit.
Adds +5% damage from last shot in clip.
Fully reload weapons after reviving another player.
Adds +2% damage to targets with full health and shields.
Adds +10% rate-of-fire after a full reload.
Adds +10% DMG to vehicles.
These synergies work with mods and weapons.
It adds +2% Crit Mult. It adds +4% Crit Mult. It adds +5% DMG on next shot after critical kill (Expires after 10 sec). It adds +10% DMG on next shot after critical kill (Expires after 10 sec).
It adds +5% Melee DMG. It adds +10% Melee DMG. It adds +5% Reload on Melee Kill. It adds +10% Reload on Melee Kill.
It adds +3% Fire Rate. It adds +6% Fire Rate. It adds +10% nano-effect chances for 2 sec after full reload. It adds +20% nano-effect chance for 2 sec after full reload.
It adds +10% Accuracy. It adds +20% Accuracy. It adds+3% active EGO ability duration on critical kill. It adds +6% active EGO ability duration on critical kill.
It adds -10% Recoil. It adds -20% Recoil. It adds +5% grenade refresh on kill. It adds +10% grenade refresh on kill.
It adds 1% ammo regen/10 sec. It adds 2% ammo regen/10 sec. It adds +5% DMG on next shot after melee kill (expires after 10 sec). It adds +10% DMG on next shot after melee kill (expires after 10 sec).
It adds +5% Reload. It adds +10% Reload. It adds +50% Reload on self-revive. It adds +100% Reload on self-revive.
