Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Monsters, Carves and Item Drops Guide

Our mega list of Monster Hunter 3 ultimate monsters, craves and items.

Monster Hunter 3 brings you more intimidating creatures to hunt down and collect more loot to make your character meaner than ever. Upgrading your character with better equipment is something that is not only necessary to progress in the game, but also widely the most loved feature.

After all, who doesn’t love watching their character suited from head to toe in ancient dragon armor while wielding bestial weapons.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Monsters, Carves and Item Drops

In this guide we’ll go through the numerous monsters that inhabit the 12 maps of the MH3 world, and look at the items they give. Note that monsters drop items according to your rank. Each rank has various items that have a certain percentage of dropping. Obviously, the item with the lesser percentage is the rarer one.

These items are invaluable as they serve as the constituents in creating all sorts of equipment, be it weapons or armor.

It is also important to note that you don’t obtain items from killing a monster. You have a certain amount of limited time to ‘carve the body’ of the monster after slaying it, which will extract items. Some monsters can be carved multiple times. In addition, large monsters tend to have body carves as well as ‘tail carves’.

There are also other item sources, such as ‘tears’, which are obtained after a monster is damaged or disabled in a specific manner (different for every monster). In addition, large monsters also have breakable parts that can grant you items as well.

We’ve compiled a huge list of these items for every monster, the chance of obtaining the item (in percentage), and how you would obtain it (body carving, tail carving, tear, etc.).

So, starting with the Small Monsters:

Now to the Large Monsters:

Large monsters in the game are a lot tougher. The body carving and item gaining system associated with them is also quite different. Firstly, many of them have breakable parts, such as front limbs or tails. These individual parts can be carved as well to get items, depending on the monster. You also obtain valuable items from them after capturing.

In addition to items, Large monsters behave differently as well. They will tend to enter an ‘aggressive’ mode, which will raise their attack, speed, and/or defense for specific kinds of attacks.

Another important thing to remember is that most Large Monsters actually come in three sizes: small, big, and king. The King are obviously the meanest of the set.

Lagombi

It’s odd that the Lagombi are large – if they would’ve been a tad smaller they’d make cute cuddly pets. They look like koalas, and you’ll find them in the Tundras. Just don’t expect a hug when you meet one though.

Nargacuga

The Nargacuga looks like a beast from the Greek mythology. The black fox-like dragon is an intimidating creature, but it’s one you’ll encounter much more than the others in high and g-ranks. Its wings are rather weak, and should be the primary areas you would want to focus your attacks.
