The final version of Path of Exile will release before October this year, Grinding Gear Games co-founder Chris Wilson revealed at GDC this week.
The free-to-play action RPG went open beta this past January and started humbly with 250,000 players. Since then the game has gathered a furious momentum and has now crossed more than 2 million registered players.
Wilson said that the developers are currently fixing bugs and releasing weekly patches; making way to the release of version 1.0, the official release which will then be also “reviewable.”
Version 1.0 will include added quests to the current Act 3 and will hence provide the complete story. Additionally there will also be new monsters, items, abilities and store cosmetics.
Regarding the game’s expansions, Wilson said that they “intend to do expansions over the next five to ten years.” He also said that, given the current player base, “adding a new act to the game is probably a once a year thing.”
In our recent interview with Grinding Gear Games, we were told that an Act 4 will possibly be included in version 1.0.
