Guild Wars 2 Gets Retro with Super Adventure Box

By   /   3 years ago

It might have started as an April Fool’s joke but ArenaNet are turning their little joke into a full-fledged 80s style game.

This pixelated title is going to be a free update available to Guild Wars 2 that can be downloaded during April and will feature a retro-esque game replete with pixelated graphics and silly enemies. You can access Super Adventure Box within Guild Wars 2 itself by visiting Moto in the asuran city, Rata Sum.

ArenaNet were originally working on this to be their April Fool’s joke, but the team putting together the product were having so much fun with it that they ended up making an actual, playable game that they felt they and the players could have a laugh with.

Originally, we were going to have a laugh with a fake 8-bit update, but the more the team worked on it the more we realized we had something really cool on our hands. We figured the gaming community are really going to love this; let’s expand on the concept of the Living World in GW 2 and make it for real.

The three-level mini-adventure is available now and will be installed to the game via a normal update.
