Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Officially Confirmed… or Not?

I wonder if Ubisoft specially planned to announce Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon on April Fools Day or perhaps it was just a coincidence.

In any case the first official confirmation comes with a new website and a teaser video. The website is designed in some ancient 80′s-styled-retro setting and carries a hidden .gif image.

To view that just simply input the famous Konami Code on the website and your cursor will transform into a cross-hair. Shoot away all the retro containers on the site and once done, this .gif will appear.

According to the website, Blood Dragon’s story is set in the year 2007, which is the future where “Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on.”

Yeah, I read that twice as well.

Even though it’s April Fools day, there has been sufficient evidence regarding the existence of Blood Dragon has a genuine standalone continuation of Far Cry 3. We’re waiting on Ubisoft to give us a final green light so that we know this is not a prank.
