Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 PC Crashes, Errors, Freezes and Fixes
Sniper Ghost Warrior 2 just got released to masses on all the major Platforms (PC, Xbox 360 and PS3) and FPS fans around the globe are itching to get their hands on it. Unlike the console users, PC gamers can run into small issues spoiling the fun for them. If that’s the case, you can refer to our troubleshooting guide to find the possible fixes of the known issues.
#1 Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 Multiplayer Issues
If you have been unable to connect to the multiplayer games, you need to make sure that your firewall/antivirus isn’t blocking the game. The multiplayer does seem to be broke a bit so try restarting to see if there is an update available for you. Furthermore, try disabling any other network adapters (like VPN, etc.) which are not being used.

#3 Sinper: Ghost Warrior 2 Black Screen Fix
You can try out the following fixes to resolve the issue:
- Go to the main folder with the game (for Steam version it’s located in “[main Steam folder]\steamapps\common\sniper ghost warrior\”) right-click on “Sniper_x86.exe” -> Properties -> compatibility bookmark -> disable desktop compositions and enable option “always run as administrator”.
- You can also try deleting “settings” folder from “My Documents\Sniper Ghost Warrior\”.
- Verifying the integrity of game files can also prove helpful.
- You can also change the in-game resolution manually. To do this, go to “My Documents\Sniper Ghost Warrior\out\settings\” -> open Notepad -> drop Video.scr file on Notepad window -> in line Resolution set it to the same as in your windows settings.
#4 Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 – Black Screen with Music in the Background
The game does not support the integrated graphic cards so you should use your dedicated memory. For nvidia cards, this option should be located in nvidia control panel while for AMD cards, you can find it in Catalyst Control Centre.
#5 Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 Crashes on Start Up
If re-installing the game doesn’t fix the issue, you can try out the following:
Go to the main folder with the game (Steam version it’s located in “[main Steam folder]\steamapps\common\sniper ghost warrior\”) right-click on “Sniper_x86.exe” -> Properties -> compatibility bookmark -> disable desktop compositions.
#6 Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 – Invalid CD Key Error
You need to run Steam client as administrator. If it doesn’t work, try the same with Sniper_86.exe file which can be found in “[main steam folder]\steamapps\common\sniper ghost warrior\”
If you have a physical copy of the game, then Right-click the “.exe” file and choose option open with -> choose Notepad -> in line “SerialNumber”=”*****-*****-*****-*****-*****” enter your serial key for the game (with capital letters) -> save changes -> run file. This should work.
#7 Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 – Failed to Start the Game (Missing Executable)
To fix this problem, you need to exit Steam and restart it. It should replace the missing/corrupt file.
#8 Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 – Invalid CD Key
If you have purchased the game via any third party retailer like Gamestop, then you should try restarting the download app/client.
