UK Retailer Shop Drops Wii U Price By £60
Another game retailer in UK is now offering the Wii U at a nicely discounted price following disappointing sales of Nintendo’s latest console.
Online retailer ShopTo has slashed away £60 from the basic Wii U edition, leaving the 8GB White Edition now available at a price of £190. The 32GB Black Premium Edition is still on sale for £280.
The new offer comes shortly after another retailer Asda cut the price for both models £50 earlier this month.
Nintendo released their new console in November of last year to an average reception. Many consumers accused the console of not being powerful enough to be labeled as an entry into next-gen, while others asked for more appealing games.
This does not at all bode well with Nintendo. Wii U games accounted for only 1.6% of total software sold in UK in January of this year. Perhaps that was a major factor which resulted in Nintendo lowering down their annual Wii U sales forecast earlier this year to just four million units, down from a previous 5.5 million figure.
