It appears that Valve was spot on for choosing Perfect World to be the Dota 2 distributor in China. The gaming company has joined forces with Gamefy, who are responsible for the G-League (one of the biggest Chinese Dota tournaments), and has announced on the 8th of March in a press conference that they will organize a Dota 2 League with the biggest prizepool to date excluding the 2 past editions of The International.
The prize pool is 1,000,000 yuan which equals around 160,000$ USD in cash prizes and is set to start somewhere in the following 2-3 months.
This competition is sure to attract not only the big Chinese powerhouses such as the world champions Invictus Gaming, DK, LGD and their foreign recruited team LGD.int but also big name western teams such as Na’Vi, who have already confirmed to bootcamp in China in the future.
Other western teams with big sponsors such as Team Liquid, Fnatic and Evil Geniuses may also join the fray.
