Vita to Receive a Price Cut in Japan – Now Costs 19,980 Yen

Sony has announced a price drop for the PlayStation Vita in Japan which will begin from February 28 onwards.

The announcement came through today’s PlayStation Vita stream, which was conducted by president Hiroshi Kawano himself. Expect Sony’s handheld to drop down to 19,980 Yen (around $215) at the end of the month. Currently, the Vita costs 24,980 Yen in Japan.

The price cut will be on both the 3G and Wi-Fi models.

Kawano did not mention whether the west will also receive a price drop, but I’m sure many are ‘anxiously’ waiting for a confirmation. Sony has been contacted on the matter, and we’ll know soon if the offer is going to be exclusive to Japan or not.

Sony’s PlayStation Event will begin in two days, and the world is waiting for the probable unveiling of their next-gen console, currently tagged as the PS4.
